In Conversation with Lauren Child during #AWF 2017- 1

I still cannot believe I was lucky enough to interview UK's new Children's Laureate, and very cool woman, the one and only Lauren Child a couple of weeks back during the Auckland Writer's Festival, 2017.

Here is part one of our conversation written for The Sapling.*

"In-conversation-with-Lauren-Child-extraordinaire"

*The Sapling website is the brainchild of devoted children's literature supporters Sarah Forster and Janey Arthur. Their motto is: "to find conversations nobody has been able to have in the main media about children’s books and give them a good airing."

Hence why I asked Lauren a few leading questions about sunglasses and name changing and other important things! Part Two of our conversation will be posted on this blog soon. We chatted for an hour which roughly translates as 6,500 words.
